AUTORSKI FILM NIJE ŽANR…
… to je raznolik, hrabar, poetičan, iskren i originalan ``pogled na svet``.
Autorski film je igralište filmskih reditelja čije filmsko pripovedanje, maštovitost i autentičnost stvaraju specifičnu i ličnu sliku o svetu i vremenu u kome živimo.
Poetičnost Felinijevih junaka, skromnost i svedenost Melvilovog filmskog jezika, raznolikost tema i žanrova Stenli Kjubirka, dinamičnost i energija Voltera Hila, nonšalancija I lakoća rediteljskog senzibileta Fransoa Trifoa…
Sve su to snažni autorski svetovi koji su promenili jezik, naraciju i suštinu filmske umetnosti.
Zato je autorski film i Karpenterov horor ``Noć veštica`` i naučno-fantastični ``Stalker`` Andreja Tarkovskog, poetični svet Sergeja Paradzanova u filmu ``Senke zaboravljenih predaka`` i Skorsezeov urbani triler ``Taksista``.
Autorski filmovi nisu oni dosadni filmovi u kojima junaci ćute, puše cigarete i sede dugo zagledani u daljinu.
Autorski film veliča i ohrabruje raznovrsnost autorskih svetova, iskrenost, posebnost i slobodu rediteljskih rukopisa.
… Jer, AUTORSKI FILM NIJE ŽANR, VEC DRUGAČIJI POGLED NA SVET.

AUTEUR FILM ISN'T A GENRE...
... it's a diverse, brave, poetic, honest and original "view of the world".
Auteur film is a playground for film directors whose filmmaking style, imagination and authenticity create a specific and personal picture of the world and time we live in. That's why auteur film is a very wide term, from Hitchcock and John Ford, Tarkovsky and Bergman, to Tim Burton or Tarantino.
Each one of these film auteurs has created an auteur world we have never seen before them. Fellini's poetic film style, Melville's unobtrusive and minimalistic filmmaking, the diversity of Stanley Kubrick's themes and genres, Walter Hill's energy and dynamism, the nonchalance and ease of François Truffau's style...
All of these are powerful auteur worlds that have changed the language, narration and essence of film as an art.
That's why an auteur film can be Carpenter's horror "Halloween" and Andrei Tarkovsky's science-fiction "Stalker", the poetic world of Sergei Parajanov in the film "Shadows of forgotten ancestors" and Scorsese's urban thriller "Taxi driver".
Auteur films aren't those boring films where the characters sit silently, smoking and staring into space for long periods of time. Or those films with long shots of nothing going on, and characters who have problems that only the film's director can understand. Those are just bad and boring films.
Auteur film is a term in which different genres, directing styles, cultures and traditions, sensibilities and energies meet.
Auteur film is alive, powerful, and the most convincing term that magnifies the strength of film as an art, it's independence from commercial superficiality, it's resistance towards social and political dogmas and tyrannies, it's power of imagination and individuality.
Auteur film underlines and encourages the diversity of auteur worlds, honesty, uniqueness and freedom of directors' styles.
... Because, AUTEUR FILM ISN'T A GENRE, BUT A DIFFERENT VIEW OF THE WORLD.
